LIBERATION ALE will help raise money for wounded servicemen.
For every pint of the Liberation Group’s new brew sold over the weekend, 10p will go towards Help for Heroes.
Guernseyman soldier Alex Knowelden, 25, who is on leave, sampled a pint and declared it ready for service.
‘I’m glad this will be supporting the charity, especially because it really does taste lovely and I’m not just saying that. It’s a very drinkable ale which I think Channel Islanders will enjoy a lot,’ he said.
The former Elizabeth College student – who has been serving in the North Helmand province of Afghanistan with 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery – was glad to be back for the island’s special day.
‘I will be in the parade in the morning. I really want to be a part of it, and I will be going up to the Rocquettes in the afternoon to speak to the former servicemen and then spend time with my family too.’
Mr Knowelden has become quite a vocal ambassador for his island home, according to Lance Bombardier Sonni Green, who is visiting him over the Liberation weekend.
