PRO footballer Lee Bradbury was ‘knocked out’ by the enthusiasm at Rovers when he ran a training session for a variety of coaches and players at Port Soif on Liberation Day.
Former Manchester City and Portsmouth striker Bradbury, now part of Bournemouth’s great escape squad from relegation from League Two this season, was in the island to be godfather at the christening of the young son of Guernsey goalkeeper Chris Tardif, his former teammate at Portsmouth.
The two footballers ran a two-hour training session for a selection of seniors, under-16s, under-14s and under-12s at the club.
‘It was good fun. Hopefully they have learned a little bit today,’ said Bradbury. ‘It was a good session and we saw some good players. I hope they enjoyed something a little bit different.’
Bradbury, 33, who has a year remaining on his Bournemouth contract, has branched out into his own soccer school in recent months. He hopes it catches on and is looking to develop residential courses.
