TOP SEEDED Heather Watson has failed to make the last stages of the clay court ITC Citta Di Santa Croce tournament in Pisa.
She lost 6-1, 3-6, 4-6 in the third round to the 15th seed, Italy’s Martina Trevisan.
Although also a junior, Trevisan was known to be a dangerous rival having enjoyed more senior circuit experience than Watson and beaten players in the world top 200. Watson is still in the doubles.
