Fatal collision at Les Banques
Saturday 16th May 2009, 2:30PM BST.
POLICE investigating a fatal collision that happened last night at Les Banques released more information this morning.
The incident involved a motorbike and a young pedestrian and occurred between the junctions of Victoria Avenue and Clos des Iles at around 9.30pm.
The pedestrian and rider were taken to hospital.
Police have confirmed that the pedestrian died as a result of serious injuries later that night.
The motorcyclist was still in hospital this lunchtime being treated for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
According to Police, when the collision happened the motorcyclist was riding with four others.
These four riders were arrested and interviewed then released on bail.
Les Banques was closed for three hours while treatment and initial investigations were carried out last night.
Anyone with information about the incident or who saw a group of five motorcyclists in the area around the time of the collision should contact police on 725111.
The identity of the young pedestrian will not be released until all next of kin have been informed.
