Sandpiper to fill Poundworld but details remain a secret

A NEW food shop is coming to Guernsey.
Sandpiper chief executive Tony O’Neill said the new store, which will bring a well-known product offering to the island, will be at the former Poundworld shop in Le Pollet, although he will be keeping its name under wraps for another couple of weeks.
‘We have just taken the lease out for the store and it is for a consumer brand not yet offered in Guernsey.
‘The name will be announced in the next couple of weeks, while the store will be open by the first week of August and will be complementary to what we have at the moment.’
Mr O’Neill (pictured) also confirmed that rumours that a second Costa Coffee outlet was to be opened in Town were true.
‘I would be disappointed if we had not opened a new Costa in Town by the summer.
‘We’ve got a number of sites we are looking at. All I can say is that it definitely won’t be the old Woolworths store. That’s far too large.’

McDonalds, Pizza Hut – unlikely due to size of site; Burger King – a possibly but I doubt it;
KFC – most likely of the fast food outlets I think;
Subway, Pret a Manger – possible but do we really need another sandwich bar?
Yo Sushi – would be popular to start with but I think the novelty would wear off.
Starbucks – unlikely as they are going for another Costa in town
