PEOPLE who live near the scene of a fatal road collision at the weekend are calling for more pedestrian crossings along Les Banques.
Clos des Isles homeowners said it was almost impossible to cross the road and that it was not much better at the zebra crossing at the top of Victoria Avenue.
Their comments came after 11-year-old Callum Eborall died after being hit by a motorcycle at 9.30pm on Friday.
A 26-year-old nanny, who lives in the clos and asked to remain anonymous, said there should be another crossing between their estate and Marais Rise, which is further south towards the Red Lion junction.
‘I don’t feel safe anywhere on this road, not even on the crossing. If I’ve got a double buggy and a little one walking, it’s a nightmare. It’s very dangerous.’
She said they had to walk along to the crossing and occasionally, when they did try and cross at the top of the clos, they had mistakenly thought that vehicles flashing their lights at other motorists had flashed to let them cross.
She said the crossing was not visible enough and was too close to the junction with Victoria Avenue.
