Creber latest Elizabethan to get GB call
Friday 22nd May 2009, 1:50PM BST.
ELIZABETH COLLEGE sixth-former Mike Creber can look forward to a trip to Canada after being selected to represent Great Britain in the Athelings shooting team.
The Athelings are the top 18 shooters from the UK Cadet force and over the summer will compete in competitions both in the UK and Canada.
As a member of the Elizabeth College Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Creber has had to compete regularly in shooting competitions over a four-year period in order to gain enough experience and to achieve the required standard.
At last year’s schools’ meeting at Bisley he became the national cadet champion over 600 yards, winning the Victoria Trophy in a nail-biting tie shoot.
During the training earlier on this year he was selected as one of the main coaches for the Athelings tour.
Elizabeth College cadet force has now produced a total of 15 Athelings since 1931, of which eight have been in the last 10 years.
