IMG_2676TWO Guernsey beaches have been recommended in a respected guide.

L’Eree and Port Soif were the best locally in a water-quality survey conducted by The Marine Conservation Society.

Weekly samples were taken between May and September last year and 11, or 38%, of the 29 beaches tested across the Channel Islands have been recommended in its annual Good Beach Guide. The other nine are in Jersey.

Pembroke was the only beach to fail, with at least two samples taken last summer deemed too polluted to pass.

The Channel Islands was the only region in the British Isles where water quality had improved over the past 12 months.

That was due to an additional three Jersey beaches being recommended.

Alderney and Herm were not included in the testing.
