A GUERNSEY company is rebranding and re-focusing as a result of businesses changing the way they communicate.

The Digital Works owner Peter Laine said the shift in focus from its core business of the past in print design and publishing to video production was due to companies looking to communicate in more cost-effective ways.

‘Eventually the print side will be phased out to further concentrate on the video production side, with a number of large projects already in the pipeline,’ said Mr Laine.

In recent months the company, which is based at the North Plantation in Town, has created corporate productions and television commercials for businesses in both Guernsey and Jersey and is investing in new technologies to increase workflow and provide a quicker service to clients.

‘We have always produced video for clients but the mainstay of the business has been in print.

‘But in the last six to eight months we have seen substantial growth in companies wanting to use video as a cost-effective means of marketing and communication and so we have decided to take steps to re-focus and re-brand in order to capitalise on this exciting medium.’

Mr Laine said the company was also entering the seminar recording arena.

‘To be able to provide a recording of the seminar or training event for use on DVD or on a website gives added value and also gives staff or clients who couldn’t attend the opportunity to catch up on what went on.’

The new branding also reflected the company’s shift to video production.

‘It’s a back-to-basics design which is easily identifiable,’ said Mr Laine.

‘A simple clapperboard with the company name worked into it instantly tells people what the business is all about. It’s a traditional symbol which has been given a contemporary look.’
