TWO virtually simultaneous accidents yesterday morning saw a schoolgirl taken to hospital and traffic in Les Banques brought to a standstill.

The crash at Les Banques involved two lorries and a car.

A silver Citroen C3 was travelling towards Town at 10.30am when the lorry behind skidded after braking.

Police Sergeant Colin Solway said that the wet conditions at the time were likely to have contributed to the incident, near the Red Lion pub.

‘It looks like the lorry skidded into the car that was then pushed into another lorry,’ he said. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

PS Solway said it was an unfortunate incident, but it was not unusual considering the weather conditions.

The wet weather led to a number of problems yesterday morning.  Police were called to five road incidents after torrential rain.

One of the more serious crashes landed a 12-year-old girl in hospital. She was in the front passenger seat of a Fiat 500 being driven along Forest Road at 10.30am when it skidded into the car in front.

She suffered a head injury when an airbag deployed and she was taken to hospital.
