TORNADOES won one of the closest ever Guernsey Open Slowpitch Tournament finals at the weekend.

Their tight 4-3 victory over Solent Sharks ensured that a Guernsey team won the event for the first time in several years.

‘We’re over the moon,’ said Tornadoes captain Marissa Mollet.

‘We played absolutely brilliantly all weekend. We thoroughly deserved to win.’

The Sharks made the final following their victory over fellow Solent League outfit Shafting in the semi-finals after an extra innings was required when the scores were four all after the seventh.

‘It was a great game to watch,’ said Mollet.
