ENVIRONMENT has released a draft development brief for the former Randalls Brewery site.

The site is approximately 1.6 hectares in area (four acres) and is currently occupied by buildings of two to three storeys fronting St Julian’s Avenue.

It also comprises a group of three to four storey buildings, formerly used as a brewery.

The department believes the redevelopment of the site offers the opportunity to create a ‘high quality development that utilises and maximises the previously developed land’.

The report states it has the potential to house new tourist accommodation, a high density living environment, low cost flats, houses or hostel accommodation, visitor facilities, or a residential scheme.

Faith Rose, director of planning policy, said: ‘The purpose of the development brief is to guide the redevelopment of the site and is considered essential in the interest of maintaining and enhancing the long-term future of a key site which is located within a conservation area, close to the central area of St Peter Port.’
