Dack achieves perfection

Helen DackGUERNSEY dominated the Channel Islands Fencing Championships held in the Elizabeth College Sports Hall.

Over two full days of competition, the hosts won eight golds, seven silvers and 12 bronze medals with Jersey picking up a meagre silver medal in the women’s epee.

Star of the weekend was Helen Dack (pictured), who made a clean sweep of the women’s competitions, winning the foil, epee and sabre competitions.

She won the women’s Master-at-Arms competition with a perfect score of 30 out of 30.

Rebecca Ashworth won silver with 25 points and Sue Martel took bronze with 14.

Fraser Ward won the men’s Master-at-Arms competition with a win in the sabre and losing quarter-finals in the foil and epee. He scored 22 points.

Second was Jamie de Carteret and third was Matthew Hale both on 18 points.
