THE States pay body has announced it will release its own version of what happened during the airport firefighters’ dispute, to be considered alongside the chief minister’s account.

On Tuesday night, Chief Minister Lyndon Trott released to all States members his account of what had happened, but Public Sector Remuneration Committee chairman Deputy Al Brouard said he had not told the whole story.

‘The committee will be adding details, in order that a fuller and more balanced picture of events is available to States members,’ he said.

Deputy Brouard (pictured), along with every member of his committee, tendered his resignation last week after saying the role of the committee had been made redundant and their hard work obsolete when senior deputies, including the chief minister, took control of the firefighter dispute.

Fellow PSRC member Tony Spruce said Deputy Trott’s version of events showed only part of the picture.

‘The words are not untrue, but it gives a different impression of what happened,’ he said. ‘He is not lying – it is not incorrect, but the power of the English language is such that you can make things seem different to how they really were.’
