GUERNSEY TIGERS stormed to a 21-9 victory over Jersey Juniors in the sixth Under-21 Inter-Insular.

The result ensured that the Sarnians brought the series level with both islands having enjoyed two wins apiece with two matches ending in a draw.

Within the Guernsey squad were three new caps – Lauren Batiste, Joe Mahy and Georgina Hemming – and the squad was captained by Tom Mahy (pictured), older brother of Joe and winner of this season’s under-16s and under-18s knockouts.

The day started out in the best possible way with three wins out of three in the fours and triples.

The most convincing success of the morning was that of skip Todd Priaulx, Will Ceillam, Chris Staples and newcomer Joe Mahy, who stormed to a 9-1 lead after only five ends.

Despite all the attempts of the well-accomplished Jersey under-18s title holder, Malcolm De Sousa, Priaulx’s four maintained their lead with relative ease, finishing 19 shots ahead of their Jersey counterparts.
