Bodman sets new PB on way to second in singles

Friday 5th June 2009, 2:29PM BST.

Erica BodmanERICA BODMAN (pictured) made three finals at the Metropolitan Regatta at Dorney Lake in Eton.

She was competing as a single, within a pair and a quad on the two-kilometre course and could not be anything less than happy by the end of the regatta.

‘The double and the quad were scratch boats, meaning we have never rowed as that crew before,’ she said afterwards.

‘Our heat was the first time we’d ever rowed together. However, we made the final in the double and the quad on Saturday and then I made the final of my singles race on the Sunday morning.’

In the finals Bodman’s quad were fourth and the double were fifth, but she was second in the singles.

‘Unfortunately, I didn’t get a medal for my silver place position because they only award gold medals at The Met. But I was really pleased with all of my racing this weekend because we were up against some experienced crews.’
