UK POLITICIANS who follow Guernsey as part of their work were in the island yesterday.

Members of the All Party Channel Islands Group, including three MPs and three peers from the House of Lords, were briefed on important island issues with the intention of developing support for Guernsey’s economic and social objectives.

Jim Dobbin, chairman of the group, said it was successful trip in terms of forging strong relationships with Guernsey.

‘It’s been a busy and interesting day.  The government of Guernsey has put together an imaginative programme and we have gained a great deal,’ he said.

‘We were not just here to enjoy the beautiful day. We are here to be good neighbours and help and support as well as we can and to address any difficulties or misunderstandings in the system.’
