Personnel Appointments’ personal assistant of the year award will not be presented this year.

THIS year’s Personnel Appointments’ personal assistant of the year award has been scrapped due to lack of support.

And it looks unlikely the event, which was in its 14th year, will be held again.

Its aim had been to recognise and reward the contributions that personal assistants make to island businesses.

The entry criteria had even been broadened this year by allowing nominations for executive and senior secretaries, but that still did not result in enough candidates to draw up a shortlist.

‘We contacted in excess of 200 companies to promote the award and feel very surprised about the lack of support the award received, especially due to the wonderful prizes given to the winner, including a £300 Hot Mango travel voucher and a magnum of champagne,’ said Personnel Appointments resourcing assistant Sarah Pinchemain.

She added that the role of a personal assistant seemingly had changed in recent years and it could be the end for the profession completely.
