ANDY PRIAULX has returned to the winner’s rostrum, albeit away from his main business in the World Touring Car Championship.

The Guernseyman won in Portugal over the weekend when he beat Johnny Herbert in the all-British ROC Legends Final, held at the home of FC Porto’s Estadio de Dragao.

The triple world champion won two of the three heats against the Le Mans winner as part of the inaugural Euromilhoes ROC South Europe.

In the qualifying heats Priaulx also beat former rally star, Carlos Sainz, Emanuele Pirro and then, in the semi-finals, five-times MotoGP World champion Mike Doohan.

‘What a great fun event this was,’ said the Sarnian.

‘It was an honour to race against such superstars and for me beating Johnny was special as he has always been one of my heroes.’
