Three records fall and others equalled

ROSS HANLEY had a day to remember at the Island Schools’ Sports Day at Foote’s Lane.

The La Mare de Carteret High student set a new Year 10 boys’ 400m record with a time of 52.9sec.

He also won the Year 10 boys’ 200m and triple jump despite only having one legal jump.

Other records to fall included the Year 7 girls’ high jump, which went to La Mare’s Chelsea Torode who set a new mark of 1.36m, and Josh Cowdrey broke the Year 9 boys’ high jump best of 1.70m, which had stood since 1989, as he cleared 1.71m.

St Sampson’s also produced one of the top performers of the day in Eben Marsh.

The 13-year-old sprinter equalled both the Year 8 boys’ 400m record of 57.2sec. and the 100m record of 12.4.

Meanwhile, Sam Wallbridge also equalled the Year 7 boys’ 75m hurdles record.Island Schools’ Sports Day
