Girard shows way on two wheels but misses record

Monday 15th June 2009, 2:29PM BST.

Adam GirardADAM GIRARD spent his Saturday afternoon at Vazon chasing two class records on his two big and beautiful Hondas.

But the star of the first sprint of the season last month had to settle for the day’s FTD while the class records went elsewhere on a perfect day for racing along the quarter-mile stretch.

Although Girard (pictured) enjoyed class victories in the 501 to 600 and 750cc and over categories, it didn’t quite click for him as he experienced problems keeping the front wheel down off the line on the big Honda Fireblade 1000.

It propelled him to a 10.50, the day’s quickest time and just three hundredths of a second quicker than his smaller bike, a Honda CRB 600, which equalled his class best with a 10.53.

But the day’s clutch of records went to those on four wheels.

Production saloon driver Dan Leaver twice bettered Tim Tulie’s 15.51 of three years ago, initially taking the record with a 15.36 and then improving it to 15.30

The Honda CRX V Tec driver was delighted with his afternoon’s work, including as it did, hitting a maximum speed of 91.88.
