REPORTS in yesterday’s national press suggested that Steve Gibson could quit as chairman of Middlesbrough Football Club as he is moving to Guernsey.
The Sunday Express report suggested Boro could be put up for sale following Gibson’s shock decision to become a tax exile here and would stand aside for new investors.
The report claimed that as a tax exile he will be restricted to just 90 days in the United Kingdom – which would effectively rule out any chance of continuing his full time involvement with Middlesbrough. But the story drew a quick response from the club denying Gibson, regarded as one of the best chairmen in the business, was about to quit the club.
