AT THE end of the sixth weekend of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, Andy Priaulx left the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic disappointed with just one point after a good qualifying and setting the fastest lap in race one.
However, there was nothing he could do as he was the innocent victim of an accident on the very first lap of race one.
It was on the straight into the first corner of race one after the rolling start and it put paid to his hopes of a big points’ weekend.
The accident, which put the BMW Team UK driver into the pits for extensive repairs to his car, was with fellow BMW driver Augusto Farfus, who turned left into Priaulx before collecting three other cars.
Farfus admitted it was totally his own fault, but by then the damage was done to Priaulx’s race hopes.
However, once his car was race-worthy again after some amazing work by the RBM team he went out on the track and set the fastest lap.
The triple world champion completed only six laps and was not classified at the end of the 12-lap race and had to start race two from 19th on the grid.
