Le Tiss left to wait
Tuesday 23rd June 2009, 2:30PM BST.
MATT LE TISSIER is back in Guernsey today still unsure whether he will be the next chairman of Southampton.
Saints fans had to remain patient yesterday as prospective owners Pinnacle attempted to settle a dispute with the Football League.
Fans have been desperate for confirmation that the much-anticipated takeover had been completed – and with that will hopefully come the expected appointment of the Guernsey legend as chairman.
Pinnacle remained confident that it could still complete their delayed takeover of Saints following the Football League holding an emergency board meeting yesterday.
The Le Tissier-backed group failed to do a deal before its 21-day period of exclusivity expired on Friday evening.
In what was a huge anti-climax, the takeover wasn’t completed due to the Football League asking Pinnacle to waive its rights to appeal against the club’s 10-point deduction, which comes in at the start of next season as a result of the club entering administration.
As Pinnacle refused to do that, the League has yet to issue it the licence needed to play in 2009/10 – a licence that was withdrawn after Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC, the club’s parent company, entered administration.

I think that the Football League have acted accordingly. The club went into administration that automatically invokes a 10 point penalty. The club should be thankful it is not like Luton last season.
If the club needs to reduce costs further then I would like to offer myself for the first team. I have a long line of experience in playing at the back…
Many regards,
Gary Akshun

The table doesn’t lie and SFC are in their position because they deserve to be there.
They should learn to live within the rules as do most other teams. People never cried for the likes of Luton and Rotherham so i don’t suppose many will shed a tear for SFC

There is only one Matt Le Tissier and only one Southampton, If anyone can do it, it will be Tiss
A SAINT through and through.
The football team needs a football fanatic not a rugby fool.

Best of luck Matt, I can’t wait for the day when we’re back in the top flight. Form is temporary, class is permanent, all the Pompey fans should remember that.
