SCHRODERS launched its Bright Ideas initiative last night to find more Guernsey entrepreneurs.
The scheme follows on from last year’s Bright Young Things in which James Turner’s Street Academy won the £5,000 prize.
Julian Winser, CEO for Schroders, said it had redeveloped the idea to widen the scope of those who could enter.
‘Last year we launched Bright Young Things, which was very successful,’ he said.
‘But when we looked back at it there was one key problem – age. We knew we needed to open it up.’
As part of this move, six experts from the island’s business world were chosen to mentor the finalists and help bring their ideas to fruition.
The experts are Tom Scott, Chief Minister Lyndon Trott, Derek Coates, Gina Le Prevost, Stuart Falla and Mr Winser.
‘This is about the participants, not about the mentors,’ said Mr Winser.
‘But having said that, we have some fabulous and brilliant business people who are at the top of their game.’
