Restaurants sign up to promote seafood

MORE than 40 restaurants will participate in a summer celebration of local seafood.
Throughout July and August, Good Food Guernsey will be promoting the Summer Seafood Experience.
Customers of 44 restaurants can expect to be served bass, mackerel, whiting and lobster, which are all in good supply, according to fishmonger Peter Shrive (pictured).
‘This will help raise awareness of local produce, which will benefit not only the general public but the suppliers as well,’ he said.
Good Food Guernsey chairman Andy Coleman said seafood was very much a part of the typical Guernsey summer experience.
‘The festival showcases what we are about, basically. We are very fortunate to live in a place with such an abundance of lovely fresh fish,’ he said.
‘Restaurateurs are in a very privileged position where they can serve fresh fish on a regular basis, so it’s nice to be able to focus on how special that is.’
This year another four restaurants will be taking part in the event, which Culture and Leisure marketing director Peter Falla said would boost the visitor experience.
