sailingDANIEL WRAY is Guernsey’s best hope of a medal in sailing.

Competing in the picturesque Eastern Harbour, the 18-year-old is currently fifth in the Laser radial rig and just four points behind third placed Yiannis Koutselinis of Rhodes.

Six races have been completed and there are four to go.

‘Daniel might get a medal,’ said teammate Jamie Hamilton.

‘The standard is really high and Daniel is doing really well. If he is lucky and he sails well, he might get bronze.’

Saaremaa’s Kaarel Kruusmagi is leading the competition and is closely followed by the Isle of Wight’s Richard Talbot in second place.

Sarnian Chris Dravers is 12th.

In the larger Laser standard rig class, Hamilton is in 18th spot while David Aslett finds himself 15th.
