THE new £39m. clinical block at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital is expected to be finished on time and ahead of budget, according to the Health and Social Services minister Hunter Adam.

He was part of a group looking around the new block yesterday to see how the site is developing.

Lt-Governor Sir Fabian Malbon was also given his first chance to look around the new building. He was impressed by what he saw.

‘I think it’s brilliant,’ he said.

‘The PEH is wonderful, but it needs updating. This block will bring care into the 21st century.’

He hoped he would get a chance to see the build when it was completed. Project manager for Charles Le Quesne, Alan Rogers, said the project will finish well within budget, and the company hoped to get more done with the money.

‘It will be well within budget. We are hoping to put in a road that will lead from Accident and Emergency to the Vauquiedor Road. It would be a nice addition.’

Health Minister Hunter Adam has been following the build closely.

‘It has changed a lot recently,’ he said.

‘Ceiling tiles have been going in, and the first clean is under way. It is an important place, and we are expecting everything to be on budget and on time.’
