KATIE FALLAIZE was the leading senior rider at the BSJA’s Derby Show.

Charlotte Breban and Papillon III recorded two fine wins to put them one point ahead of Fallaize and JM Breezer in the leading rider stakes going into the second day.

Fallaize and JM Breezer continued their winning form by taking second place in the intermediate speed derby, followed by a first in the intermediate derby class.

Unfortunately, day two was not Breban’s day and when Papillon III was uncharacteristically eliminated in the main event of the day, the leading rider accolade was handed to Fallaize.

Visiting course designer Neil Theobold was making a welcome return to the island and his courses gave competitors much to think about.

Day one is traditionally ‘trial’ day when competitors have the opportunity to jump most of the fences that are going to be included in the main Derby classes on day two, including the Derby bank.

Trevor de Garis was giving Oasis Gold Star only his third run out at BSJA this season and did well to place second behind Fallaize in the intermediate derby trial.

Having the benefit of going second in the two-man jump off, they recorded the faster time but rolled a pole for four faults.
