SOUTHAMPTON Football Club has finally been sold – almost 100 days after its holding company was placed in administration.
Swiss billionaire Marcus Liebherr completed the deal yesterday for an undisclosed sum.
Administrator Mark Fry said: ‘I am absolutely delighted. It has gone to who we feel was the right buyer.’
It is understood that former Saints and Guernsey legend Matt Le Tissier (pictured) – who endorsed a bid by the Pinnacle Group – will not form part of the make-up at St Mary’s.
Local Saints fans were relieved yesterday as there had been fears the club would have to be wound up.
Top snooker player Adam Shorto, 27, said: ‘I’m over the moon. I was not too confident that it was going to happen so I’m very relieved.
‘Fingers crossed it will be all good from here on in.’Saints preserved – but it’s without Matt
