Priaulx gets 10
Monday 20th July 2009, 2:29PM BST.
ANDY PRIAULX emerged from two very exciting FIA World Touring Car Championship races at Brands Hatch with 10 points from finishing third in race one and fifth in race two.
The triple world champion upheld BMW honours in the first race after a battle with both Rob Huff’s Chevrolet in front of him and Gabriele Tarquini’s Seat behind.
Then in race two he had the same two drivers to contend with for most of the race, but the other way round.
‘I really wanted a win today and I had a car that was faster than the guys in front in both races.
‘I had some good battles with Rob Huff and Gabriele Tarquini and was faster than them, but I could just not make any of my moves stick. I tried on many occasions but they defended heavily and it is difficult to overtake round this track.
‘I have the speed this year to win, but it just hasn’t happened to date. Hopefully that will come later in the season,’ said Priaulx.
Both races were action packed with safety car periods.
