Rare Jethou tour will boost Les Bourgs coffers
Thursday 30th July 2009, 2:29PM BST.
ISLANDERS are being given a rare opportunity to visit Jethou to help raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice.
About 250 tickets are being made available for a special trip to the private island, which is owned by Sir Peter Ogden.
Friends of Les Bourgs chairman Jack Honeybill said it was a great chance to raise money for the charity.
‘It is the first time we have been to Jethou to raise money,’ he said.
‘I just happened to run into Sir Peter and he said he would be delighted to help the charity.’
It is unusual for the public to be allowed access to the 44-acre island south of Herm.
‘I think a lot of people will be interested in visiting the island – it is very beautiful,’ said Deputy Honeybill.
No smoking is allowed on the island, and pets are forbidden due to the rare birdlife.
The boat will sail at 9am on Saturday 15 August. Visitors will have three hours to walk around the island, with refreshments at the manor house.
Tickets cost £15 and are available from the hospice shops, the hospice’s reception and the Travel Trident Kiosk.

I tried to get a ticket for this rare trip. Sadly all sold out very quickly. It does not help either that I live on the mainland and so could not pop to the Hospice shops or Trident Kiosk, I should have rung up and had tickets sent to my hotel!!! I hope they can arrange another trip like this in the not too distant future and I will hopefully then try and get a ticket.
