Guillou lacking thrust at Thruxton
Sunday 2nd August 2009, 11:44AM BST.
AFTER overcoming injury and electrical problems with his motorbike, Phil Guillou has established himself back up the British 250GP Championship table.
The Sarnian missed rounds eight and nine at Cadwell Park due to a long-standing wrist injury. It saw him drop from eighth to 12th in the standings.
But after resting his wrist he was able to compete in round 10 at Thruxton.
Guillou has not ridden on the notoriously fast circuit for the last eight years so he was happy to qualify on the third row of the grid in 10th place.
With a strong start he was up to fourth but as he got onto the quickest section of the track, Guillou was riding as hard as he could but his Yamaha TZ250 was clearly off the pace. He ended up 14th.
When he got his bike back to the pits, the problem was tracked down to the electronics following a discussion with the engine builder,
Parts were ordered from Spain and they arrived in time for the next meeting at Pembrey in South Wales where he placed eighth.
