Photographers say it with flowers
Thursday 6th August 2009, 2:00PM BST.
FLORA and fauna were pictured at their best in Floral Guernsey’s photography competition.
More than 100 entries were submitted, with islanders trying to capture the essence of Floral Guernsey.
Six were chosen as the winners by a panel of judges who included a professional photographer, a horticulturalist and Floral Guernsey council members.
The winners had their images enlarged on canvas.
Fran Torode, 52, who works for a company selling steel, was one of the winners. She had captured the bluebells at Petit Bot.
‘I was walking with my dog and I always take my camera with me,’ she said.
‘I just thought they looked like mist.
‘It wasn’t until two days before the closing date when I saw in the paper they were looking for entries.
‘I have entered a few competitions over the years, but this is the first time I have won.
‘I take pictures mainly for me.’
