Greens no longer in a stew over Stu

GUERNSEY can breathe easily. Skipper Stuart Le Prevost will definitely play in tomorrow’s inter-insular at the KGV.0758793

Katie, the wife of the influential island captain, finally gave birth to their first child yesterday evening and, after a day in which his place in the inter-insular side was becoming increasingly in doubt, he confirmed that he will be at the KGV raring to go.

‘We wish her well and hopefully Stuart will be available, but we fully understand if he pulls out,’ said island manager Dave Hearse, a few hours before the birth of 9lb 9oz Edward.

With Le Prevost’s participation confirmed, the players to miss out from Hearse’s 13-man squad will be the two Warr brothers, Jonny and James. One of them will have featured if the Cobo man had been unable to play due to a further delay in the birth.

‘I’ve picked a team that is able to win, but whether they win or not depends on the day,’ said Hearse.

‘It’s all about who plays best to their abilities’

But Hearse did admit that Jersey start favourites.

‘They’ve deserved to win the last two years, but hopefully we’ll reverse that trend,’ he said.

‘But it will be difficult. They are a very strong team.
