Ken’s car got caught up in Cobo wreck clearance…

Friday 7th August 2009, 11:30AM BST.

ONE of the cars removed from Cobo on Wednesday by a group of activists had been parked, not abandoned.0818914

However, owner Ken Shaw said he still welcomed the actions of the Guernsey Boys, a group of concerned islanders who cleared 24 vehicles from the car park using skip lorries.

Most of the abandoned vehicles apparently belonged to Thomas Holroyd, who claims to own the disputed land. He met police yesterday and a formal complaint has now been lodged.

Ken Shaw, who lives in a flat next to the car park, discovered that his Mini Metro was missing when he left for work yesterday.

While frustrated that his vehicle had been mistaken as abandoned, he was pleased the car park was clear.

‘Of course I’m frustrated the car is gone, but I did not have a problem with them getting rid of those horrible cars,’ the 36-year-old said. ‘But it would only have taken five minutes to find out who the owner was by taking down the registration number.’

Mr Shaw said his vehicle was perfectly useable.

‘I don’t know what the damage is yet, but I know it was driveable beforehand,’ he said. ‘I had to report it to the police for insurance reasons, so I can’t say any more than that at the moment.’

Don’t worry Ken!! I’m sure the dozens of people supporting the theft of your car will be happy to chip in to buy you a new one, or repair the damage caused.

Well done Ken, despite being put in what was probably a great deal of inconvienience you still support the Guersney Boys. Fair play to you, I hope the Guernsey Boys settle any damage out of court which will be good for both parties. I am sure they will admit their mistake and reimburse you

Good on you Ken! Posters on this site please refer to a letter by David E. Chester posted 7the Aug.09 under the heading of Miscellaneous in the Guernsey Forum. It certainly paints ownership of said car park as a very grey area indeed.

Mr. Shaw report the vehicle as stolen which it was and take legal action against those responsible for full reimbursement of the value of your vehicle and for the cost of a rental car until the debt is satisfied. The Police are required to charge those who admit responsibility with theft.
