A good e-comms policy is a must, seminar reminds bosses

BUSINESSES have been reminded that the need to have an effective and up-to-date electronic communications policy cannot be overestimated.
At a Carey Olsen employment seminar, an audience of employers, HR managers and IT professionals were told of the importance of having strong policies in place to deal with the control of confidential material and other aspects of data protection law.
Lawyer Rachel Richardson, from the Carey Olsen employment team, said that advance planning was integral to managing information security issues, and recommended that the issue of monitoring email correspondence and other distribution methods was raised early on with employees.
