Test delay for lorry hopefuls
Friday 14th August 2009, 11:30AM BST.
PEOPLE desperate for a lorry licence have had their tests cancelled.
And they face an extra delay – according to one instructor –
because of concerns about the off-road manoeuvring area.
Tests in lorries, articulated trucks, buses and cars with trailers use a site at Le Murier.
‘It’s the wrong shape and you can’t lay out the reversing course as it’s supposed to be set out,’ said former supervising examiner and semi-retired instructor Peter Derham.
‘It’s a bodge up.
‘It’s never been fit for purpose since the original Traffic Committee decided to set up there against the advice of its officers.’
