GTA deserves more taxpayer cash, says Institute of Directors

THE GTA University Centre is underfunded and should receive more money from the taxpayer, according to the Institute of Directors.
Carol Goodwin, on behalf of the IoD, said the island should be proud of the GTA’s accomplishments.
Commerce and Employment announced this week that it would hire independent consultants to review the GTA to ensure it is providing value for money on taxpayers’ investment.
It is estimated that the department could spend up to £50,000 on the review – the GTA received £435,000 of taxpayers’ money last year.
‘The department’s press release says that its aim is to maximise its return on investment in up-skilling the island’s workforce and ensure value for money for the use of taxpayers’ funds,’ she said.
‘We understand that the review will also consider whether public funding for the GTA University Centre is at the right level.’
She said the IoD supported any review of public spending and agreed that, given the strategic importance of maintaining a skilled workforce in Guernsey, it was appropriate to review the allocation to training and education.

Cheeky lady.
If she wants them to have more money then let the IOD members pay.
Why should taxpayers pay?

I dunno:
these people are unbelievable.
I thought (like the fool I am) that screw-drivers were for screwing screws, apparently its also for screwing the last penny out of the people
Let those who want it go out and earn it:it seems as if the they are all beggars, and the poor old taxpayer has to support a certain way of life.
If they are doing such a good job, then why aren’t those who have gone ahead not helping out?
Why? because once trained on taxpayer money, they leave the Island for places far away’
It’s criminal to think the tax paper has large pockets, it has to stop,

And let’s not forget that the GTA is a publically funded body that competes with private enterprise. So, on the one hand you have the IoD suggesting that states businesses such as the airport should be run by the private sector, while on the other they want the public to cough up more money for the GTA – oh, and you have C&E wanting to bring in a competition law…
What planet are these people on?

What she means is we run it, but you pay for it.
Sounds like par for the course?

Remember also that the GTA competes with the public sector especially the CFE.

I don’t think so :
‘I do believe she is saying–
“I’m on the band wagon as well”
Like a doctor says “Cough”
When will Guernsey get an administration that says —– NO NO NO.
Or are they also on the wagon.
