MICK LE PREVOST insists North will be fit and raring to go when they begin the defence of their Division One title in a week’s time.
A youthful chocolate-and-blues outfit were out-powered by big rivals Bels last night at the Track as they ended their pre-season programme with a heavy defeat.
But with senior players Glyn Dyer, Kieron Mahon and Alex Le Prevost due back in the island in the next few days and Darren Martin and Michael Wilson likely to be fit, North coach Le Prevost senior has few worries about the state of his squad ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Blanche Pierre Lane to face St Martin’s.
‘We should have a full squad available for that game and I am really pleased with my squad,’ he said,
‘I know the 21 players who I want involved this season and that group is just as strong as the squad who won the title last year.
‘It’s just a case of getting everyone back from holidays and minor injuries.’
Scott Bougourd, Nigel Hutton and Jon Loaring were also missing from yesterday’s line-up, but they too should be competing for places when the Saints fixture comes around according to their coach.
‘They had slight knocks and I would rather not play them because you risk them getting worse,’ Le Prevost said.
