West Show pageant

MORE than 100 people, young and old, dressed up in traditional Guernsey costumes for the annual show pageant.
This year’s theme was La Laongue Veille, the time when families gathered after their dinner on 23 December to prepare their produce to sell on Christmas Eve.
After two groups of town and country folk entered the arena, the ‘Townies’ enjoyed a concert, while the country folk had a ‘shindig’ on the farm.
The next day the two groups came together at the market, where the Townies bought the goods provided by the country people, and it was after this that the trouble started…
