TRAFFIC fumes and engine noise will be replaced by bouncing balls and music tomorrow when basketball comes to Town.
The Guernsey Basketball Association has organised Hoops at the Harbour, which will see island players showcase their talents in a three-on-three tournament.
There will also be an opportunity for spectators to get involved with a trick shot and skills challenge.
Organiser and national league squad member Kerry Smyth said the event was aimed at raising awareness of the sport.
‘We wanted to promote the association and also raise money for the men’s and women’s squads, who are this year competing at national league level,’ he said.
‘The Town seafront closure was the perfect opportunity.
‘It’s all about involving the community and, at the end of the day, everyone will have enjoyed it and we would have promoted the sport locally.’
It will cost a total of £40,000 for the women’s and men’s squads to take part in the national league for one season. This figure includes travel expenses and memberships.

3 on 3 or 5 on 5 events are great for the locals, especially on the Beach front. You get music, sweaty bodies, activity, sun, fun, food. What could be better?
2 events here in Canada are the Kits Fest in Vancouver and Harbour City 3 on 3 in Victoria:
