AUGUST has another week to run and Bels already have two cups in the cabinet after their 5-2 Rawlinson Cup final win over a heavily-depleted St Martin’s side at the Track on Saturday.

And while Ian Champion, Bels’ new coach, was smiling at the result, across the English Channel so too was Athletics boss Steve Ogier, who saw his young hopefuls take Wessex League leaders Bourne-mouth FC to the wire in the Hampshire Senior Cup, before losing 2-1.

Athletics, thumped by Bels the previous week, turned in a determined and encouraging performance after Danny Marquand had given the all-whites a shock third minute lead.

But Bournemouth equalised after 12 minutes and grabbed the winner with 20 minutes remaining.

Bels make their own Hampshire Cup bow at home to Moneyfields in a fortnight and will fancy their chances at the Track given their propensity in finding the back of the net.
