Sorry about that, darling

Lucy BeereLUCY BEERE spoiled boyfriend Matt Le Ber’s perfect weekend at the Corbet Field, winning their Press Open Singles final to deny Le Ber a clean sweep of island titles.

With the most prestigious singles trophy in Guernsey bowls up for grabs, Beere (pictured) put behind her women’s singles defeat of Saturday, to turn over Le Ber 21-13 yesterday morning.

Had Le Ber won he would have walked away from the BGA finals weekend with three singles crowns on top of a Travers Pairs success and the Sandeman Fours.

Guernsey bowls’ star young couple have enjoyed an outstanding summer, but Beere’s hopes of landing her first de Putron [island] women’s title disappeared with a 21-12 loss to former champion Anne Simon.

Le Ber, too, very nearly lost his Elliott [island] men’s showdown, but in a dramatic finish sneaked past Gary Pitschou 21-19.
