TWO arson attacks have left Saltpans residents very worried.

Families believe the recurring problem is becoming increasingly dangerous after two more charred vehicles were found on the road yesterday morning.

Carer Mena McKane, who lives very near the scene, was shocked to see the wreckage of the Monday night incident.

‘I have never seen it this bad before, it is absolutely terrible,’ she said.

A truck and a car were both burned out.

Mrs McKane said it was a lovely place to live, apart from the dumped old cars, which nobody moved.

‘It is quite frightening because once a car goes up in flames you don’t know what else could go up with it,’ she said.

Her son, Kiley Michel, 37, and his sons, Branden, 10, and Orlando, 5, live within earshot but did not hear anything.

‘It is the second or third time this has happened recently and I would like to see them moved,’ said Mr Michel, who works at Castle Cornet.

Fellow Saltpans resident Lynette Le Huray said she feared for passing children.

‘It is awful, dreadful, that these cars are left to rot here and then get burned too,’ she said.

MrsPinthepanty, stop being so stereotypical! I would imagine Lynette is referring to younger children.

    Well said GG.

    Mrs P.

Please dont tarnish all the children with the same brush. It’s only the minority that spoil things.
As usual, it would be the innocent ones that would get hurt or worse!
And what about the firefighters who have to deal with the blazes? They have no idea what could have been placed in the vehicles, items of which could explode with disastrous consequences to all.

If these vehicles are a risk to any persons, they should be removed at once and the owners should foot the bill and a fine. It doesnt cost to remove vehicles these days. There’s no excuse.

    Hello everybody!

Firstly if it’s not kids doing this I’ll be amazed. Of course I’m not saying all kids are tearaway pyromaniacs, I have noticed that not everything is on fire.

    Anyway, guess what?

That tiny triangle of land is private property. So all the nonsense that applies down at Cobo is true here too!

Yep, its pensioners doing it! As Mrs Twithead wants to slash their pensions they’re having to work out the best way to keep warm in the coming winter weather.

Could very well be an insurance scam or an electrical fault but Occam’s Razor says it’s kids.
