What do you want £93m. waste plant site to look like?
Thursday 27th August 2009, 1:00PM BST.
ISLANDERS will have their say on the development of the Longue Hougue waste plant site.
The Environment Department yesterday published a draft development brief for the industrial land in St Sampson’s where a £93m. waste facility is to be built.
But the type of waste technologies employed will not be up for discussion as the States has already made its decision on that. ‘We want to hear from all interested parties, particularly the public, on how the site at Longue Hougue South should be developed to meet the need for waste-related infrastructure’, said Environment minister Peter Sirett.
‘We hope the design achieves the standards that have been widely publicised in the concept drawings. But until we receive a formal planning application, there are no guarantees that this will be the approved scheme.’
French firm Suez Environnement released initial designs for the facility (pictured), which will include an energy-from-waste plant and a sorting facility, after it was selected as preferred bidder by the Public Services Department.
- Copies of the draft are available from Sir Charles Frossard House or it can be viewed at www.gov.gg.
