ST PIERRE PARK HOTEL will be refurbished over the next three months as part of a £1.5m. investment by its owners.

It was put up for sale last year with the aim of attracting a specialist hotel operator with international expertise.

But Sandpiper CI later decided to keep the hotel due to the global recession.

‘Having made the decision not to sell St Pierre Park in the current economic climate, we have decided to invest in the hotel to ensure it remains one of Guernsey’s top venues,’ said Sandpiper chief executive officer Tony O’Neill.

‘We have also invested in the hotel’s marketing activity by recruiting a sector specialist to promote St Pierre Park and Guernsey to a wider audience which is already having favourable returns.’

The hotel will remain open throughout the work. It will be done in phases to reduce disruption to guests.

Bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, meeting and conference rooms will all be upgraded.

The Terrace Bar will be turned into a meeting area for guests and non-residents.

General manager Dina Le Lacheur hoped that the work would attract new visitors.

    About time too

The hotel is nowhere near as good as it pertains to be.

At least its stopped beleiving its own hype, hopefully as well as the building work they will undertake staff training on how to be friendly.
