SPECTATORS at the Horse of the Year Show at Chemin Le Roi on Saturday were wowed by both the junior and senior puissances.

Day four of the annual competition saw thrilling performances by local and visiting competitors.

The short and demanding course is renowned for its excitement and this year six juniors and 13 seniors decided to take it on.

But it was the visitors from Jersey and England that came away victorious in both classes.

The junior category started with six combinations and each one cleared the first round.

The second saw Georgie Prow and pony Westside Miracle pick up four faults after refusing the wall, but the pair regained their composure and cleared it on the second attempt.

In the third round, Ella Dodd parted company with Colbar Magic Max as he, too, refused to jump the testing wall.

Both Jersey competitor Gemma Dufty with Bay of Waves and Guernsey’s Ellie Hindle on Miss Congeniality picked up four faults at the spread jump in the fourth round.

That put pressure on the remaining duo, 2008 winner Jack Clackett and Caramella, to perform in the fifth round.

And perform they did.

Clearing each jump soundly, the combination retained their crown.
