GUERNSEY juniors claimed back the Team Trophy in emphatic style on Sunday afternoon to give a large Chemin Le Roi crowd plenty to cheer.

The final day of one of the best BSJA Horse of the Year Shows yet came to the traditionally tense finale with the second legs of both the junior and senior team matches, but the Sarnian youngsters showed no signs of nerves.

In fact, captain Tiffany Gervaise-Brazier riding Clover Dash, whose brilliant clear round on Wednesday gave her side a 12-fault advantage after the opening leg, even had the luxury of being last to go knowing that her side had already won.

The Jersey and Guernsey junior teams began in fine style as Francesca Mauger, riding Kilrea Boy, and Sarnian Jodie Travers on Pimms Parade traded clear rounds.

Next to go, Jersey’s Spellbound Indianna Majyk, ridden by Milly Mitchinson, accumulated eight faults and that, too, was matched by the following Guernsey combination, Elmdale Expression with Laura Davison on board, as the hosts closed in on victory.

A clear round from Gabrielle Mauger on Roscow Delight and eight faults for Jersey captain Ella Dodd, riding Colbar Magic Max, sandwiched four faults for Freddie Best and Gew Trogon, which meant that the visitors finished on 28 faults with Gervaise-Brazier still to go.

She and Clover Dash put the icing on the Guernsey cake, however, with another outstanding clear to put her side on a mere 12 faults.

Good coverage of the HOYS, just pointing out that Tiffany won all 5 of her individual events as well as the team. she was also leading Junior rider, Overall leading Guernsey Rider and overall leading points scorer in the showjumping, a great result I don’t think ever recorded before.
