A MOTORCYCLIST who collided with a car last evening landed 50 yards from his bike.
The 30-year-old was travelling along Route des Farras towards St Peter’s when his Kawasaki Ninja 600 hit a black Kia Sportage, which was travelling in the same direction, at the junction with Les Nouettes.
He was lying in the middle of the road when the emergency services arrived and an Ambulance and Rescue spokesman said the rider had suffered a fracture to his left leg and road abrasions.
‘The patient was immobilised on a spinal board with a neck brace as a precaution and was given pain relief and oxygen, before being taken to hospital at 6.16pm.’
The couple travelling in the Kia escaped without injury.
Skidmarks some 50 yards long led up to the crash site, where the motorbike was severely damaged and the Kia Sportage had a dent in the rear nearside and a flat tyre.
Residents living nearby described the crash.
A woman who asked not to be named, said she had heard what sounded like a big thud and ran out to see what had happened.
‘I went to see what I could do, because I have some medical training and there was a nurse already on the scene.’
‘I held his hand and he was trying to move his head and arm, so I held him to keep him still. He was talking the whole time.
‘There have been quite a few accidents near this lane [Les Nouettes]. I don’t know if it applies to this accident, but you have to pull out blind.’
